Panopto integrates video management service with Microsoft Teams

Panopto – a provider of video management systems for higher education and enterprises – integrates its service with Microsoft Teams, allowing users to search for videos and meeting recordings on the collaboration platform.

Panopto’s video search capabilities are also integrated into Microsoft 365 apps through Microsoft Graph, making videos – and their content – discoverable alongside Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and other digital assets.

“Powerful search engines are the foundation of modern collaboration platforms, and Microsoft Teams and the Graph Search API are leading the way,” said Eric Burns, CEO of Panopto. “Video on demand has become the new document, and as organizations build ever larger video libraries, the ability to easily search through videos is more important than ever. Panopto’s next-generation Teams integration now provides fast, relevant, and secure video search results within the Teams app, and students and knowledge workers can now effortlessly search their organizations’ libraries.

The integration will provide benefits to users in education and enterprise. For example, in higher education, users have easy access to Panopto’s video library of lectures, course materials and content. It also provides a fully integrated synchronous and asynchronous video solution where teachers and students can easily create, manage, search and share from one centralized location. For businesses, all corporate video content and meeting recordings are centrally managed in Teams, within the security boundaries of the Microsoft 365 environment, reducing support costs and increasing productivity.

“Microsoft Teams users use video every day – video is an essential part of their working and learning environments,” said Steven Abrahams, Senior Product Manager, Microsoft Teams Ecosystem at Microsoft. “The new Panopto Teams integration allows users to increase their productivity with improved learning workflows that allow them to easily search, find and play Panopto videos entirely within Teams.”
